Let's Talk

My approach to therapy is, first and foremost, relational. This means that the relationship between myself and the child, teen or adult I am working with provides an anchor of safety, trust, and care from which one’s inner experience can be explored.

I am also interested in understanding your relationship to your thoughts, feelings, memories, experiences, and your world. When it comes to mental health challenges related to trauma and loss, we (understandably) struggle against our pain and the circumstances that surround it, often in an effort to banish what hurts. However, this can lead us to avoid or ignore our pain, giving us short-term relief, but potentially making us vulnerable to more enduring, long-term challenges. Using CBT, DBT and Attachment Theory principles, we create a shared understanding and coping skills to manage mental health difficulties and the storms of life.
My approach is to support you holistically in curiosity and compassion as we build a new relationship in how you relate to yourself and your loved ones.
The Treatment Process
1. The First Session
The consultation sets the stage for the treatment process. Therapeutic goals are set and you will have a more concrete idea of what we are treating and how therapy will work. We will decide on whether an 8-12 week journey together is right for you, or if you just need counsel for that day.
2. Therapy
Therapy sessions are typically weekly, but for those who want or need additional support, further scheduling may be added. A blend of CBT, psychodynamic and schema tools are used in the therapy.

3. Reflection
At around the 8-week mark, there is mutual assessment on how the treatment is progressing and whether to take a break or continue with therapy.
